October 10, 2011 - Firefighters Visit Hurley Elementary

Monday morning firefighters from Locke Fire Dept. visited students at Hurley Elementary School.  The students learned about fire safety and got to see Ladder 62.

August 31, 2011 - Brotherhood Ride

Locke Fire Dept assisted with escorting riders in the Brotherhood Ride though Locke Fire District and into the City of Salisbury. For more about the Brotherhood Ride visit their website. http://brotherhoodride.com

 

 

 

April 5, 2011 - Mutual Aid Structure Fire

At 07:52 Engine 624 and Rescue 62 responded to assisted Atwell Fire Dept. with a working structure fire in a church. Seeing the need for an additional ladder truck command requested Ladder 62. Although not officially in service it responded to set up as an elevated master stream.

 

 

March 26, 2011 - Locke Fire Department has taken delivery of a new apparatus.

The 85 foot platform was previously in service in Kent Island, Maryland and Halfway Fire Dept, Maryland before that. Four members traveled to Kent Island on March 25 to pick up the new truck. Training on the new truck has began and after training and relettering is complete the new ladder truck will go into service. See below for trucks specifications.

  • 1250 GPM Waterous 2-stage Pump

  • 300 Gallon Water Tank

 

 

 

December 18, 2010 - Live Burn

Locke Fire Dept hosted a live fire class. Temperatures were around freezing when live fire evolutions began and snow was falling by the end. Several other department participated and had a great day of training.

 

 

September 16, 2010 - Two House Fires in less than four hours

At 16:00 Locke Fire Department responded to Myers Place for a working house fire. Mutual Aid was received from Franklin, Cleveland and Salisbury. The fire was brought under control at 16:30. Later that afternoon the department responded to another working house fire in our district. This fire, on Regency Rd, was in a 5600 square foot house and grew to 3 alarms. The first arriving crews were met with heavy fire involvement. The fire was controlled at 21:40.

 

 

September 3, 2010 - Webb Rd Flea Market Fire

At approximately 7:30 am Locke Fire Department was dispatch to assist Bostian Heights FD with a structure fire at the Webb Rd Flea Market. The buildings were well involved when the first apparatus arrived. The fire grew to multiple alarms and smoke from the fire could be seen from as far away as Charlotte.

 

 

August 31, 2010 - New HME Pumper/Tanker placed in service.

 

 


 

 

The Mission Statement of the Fire Department is to protect the lives and property of the citizens of Locke Township from fires, hazardous materials incidents, natural disasters; to save lives by providing emergency medical services; to prevent fires through prevention and education programs; and to provide a resource for those looking to preserve the camaraderie, brotherhood and traditions of the Fire Service.  To encourage as well as teach about brotherhood, honor, pride and to uphold the memory of those who gave the ultimate sacrifice to continue the growth of what we hold Sacred.
